Individual Housing Counseling
For Iowans living in rental property, our free counseling services teach housing rights and
responsibilities while offering options to solve
housing conflicts. In addition to housing
counselors and educators, we also serve as client
advocates and mediators in housing disputes.

Housing Counseling
and Supportive Services
Buying and maintaining a home is a big step,
with big responsibilities. When families express
a desire for homeownership, we help them define
their financial situation, shore up their credit, if
necessary, and prepare for purchasing a home.
Through the homeownership counseling, we also help families find homes along with financial assistance packages to buy them. |
Public Education
To help resolve problems, we help educate both landlords and tenants about housing rights and
responsibilities as well as community resources.
We hold free group information sessions that deal
with housing rights and remedies and distribute educational materials.
Advocacy
We work closely with community groups to plan,
develop, implement and monitor programs and
legislation that have an impact on the
lower-income housing consumer.
The new fourth edition of our Rental Handbook for Landlords and Tenants offers facts on renting, housing laws, and rights and responsibilities for both landlords and tenants.
