What Kind of Houses
Do You Build?
We create homeownership opportunities for families living below 80% of Area Median Income. Historically, this has included single-family homes and duplexes, but we are actively pursuing new projects that would offer homeownership in a variety of housing types.
Our clients come from all kinds of backgrounds, walks of life, and family sizes - including many multi-generational families. Our goal is to be able to offer attainable housing that meets the needs of a wide cross-section of households.
Our single-family homes are currently appraising for around $280,000 - $286,000. By utilizing construction subsidies and a variety of down payment assistance programs, we empower and enable families to achieve homeownership with mortgages ranging between $130,000 and $200,000.
To further support our clients, we strive to ensure their mortgage payments are at 30% or less of their gross income. This approach helps set families up for long-term success, ensuring financial and housing stability for years to come.

Do You Do Renovations
or Remodeling?
We collaborate with various organizations and municipalities that manage housing repair initiatives, serving as the general contractor for these projects. Among these collaborations is the Metro Home Improvement Program. We also work with the City of Des Moines' Ion Project on many other initiatives

Seen Any Vacant Lots Lately?
We are always looking for opportunities to acquire lots for the development of new, affordable homes. If you own a lot and you would like to sell or donate it to HOME, Inc., or if you would like to consider HOME, Inc. in your estate planning - please reach out to us! Or if you come across a vacant lot for sale in your community, please share the details with us!
Not only are lot donations tax-deductible, but they help enhance our score on various funding applications by demonstrating community support, reducing costs, increasing project feasibility, and creating opportunities for additional partnerships and funding sources. All of this means we have the ability to stretch our dollars and create more affordable housing in Des Moines!
