Homebuyer education class scheduled for April 26
HOME, Inc. and Bankers Trust are partnering to address a need for homebuyer financial education in central Iowa.
As part of their ongoing partnership, the two organizations host free homebuyer education classes geared toward minority and low-to-moderate income homebuyers. These classes provide education on the financial considerations of home ownership, the mortgage process and owning a home.

The next HOME, Inc. and Bankers Trust homebuyer education class will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at HOME, Inc., located at 1618 6th Ave in Des Moines. More information and a registration link are available on Bankers Trust’s website. Multi-lingual assistance is available and lunch is provided.
"Partnering with Bankers Trust to offer homebuyer education classes empowers individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions. This collaboration fosters financial literacy, promotes responsible homeownership, and strengthens our community by making homeownership more accessible to all,” says Carrie Woerdeman, executive director with HOME, Inc.
“Bankers Trust acknowledges the disparities in homeownership rates in our community for marginalized groups”, says Emily Abbas, EVP, Chief Consumer Banking and Marketing Officer at Bankers Trust. “One way we help is by providing these free workshops with HOME, Inc. We believe that everyone should have access to the resources they need to understand the homebuying process and what it takes to maintain successful home ownership.”
This partnership is part of Bankers Trust’s broader initiative of investing more than $100,000 into similar workshops across each of its markets through 2027, with $35,000 going to HOME Inc.
