Our counselors at HOME, Inc. make the world go round, and they are making a difference in the lives of our community members. They are always there to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or a shoulder to cry on for our clients.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has wrecked havoc on the lives of many Americans, and we are feeling the full force of need in the Des Moines area, especially when it comes to housing insecurity. Our counselors have been hard at work to empower and educate our community members to retain their housing and rental status.

We began a rental assistance program in August, and since that program began we have mailed 290 checks totaling over $509,758. Additionally, through this program, we have assisted 242 clients to remain in their homes, 52% of which are disenfranchised individuals.

Over the course of 2020, our counselors have taken thousands of calls from community members that need housing assistance. In 2019, our counselors received 200 calls a month, the last week in October of 2020 our counselors received 268 calls in just that week. This exceeds the average number of calls per week pre-COVID. Our counselors are hard at work ensuring that our community members have access to funding, education, and support to retain their housing status.

From July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 HOME, Inc. has served 246 houses and prevented 644 evictions. These numbers show how influential our work is. Donate to help our cause at homeinc.kindful.com
